NJSLA Testing Info

NJSLA Testing Dates: May 5th to May 13h:

Our students have been working very hard throughout the year preparing for the upcoming NJSLA test. Our teachers have also been guiding students on how to answer questions and navigating through the testing platform to help students feel comfortable when they take the test in May.

While the test is very important, I want to make sure that the students are not overly stressed about it. Likewise, if a child is sick, please do not send them to school on testing days because it is a disservice to the child to sit through the test when they are ill.

To best support the students on test days, I request your support at home with the following:

  • ensuring that students get a good night's sleep. Please make sure they are not up late watching TV or on their devices (computer, iPad, cell phones).

  • getting to school before 9:00 AM. When students are running into school late, it can negatively impact their morning routines once they get into the classroom where they feel rushed or stressed, which exactly what we are trying to avoid, especially on testing days.

  • eating a healthy breakfast at home, or getting the breakfast here when they arrive at school.

  • not sending students to school if they are sick.

  • remind them to do their best, read the directions and questions carefully and use their scrap paper every day.

The testing schedule is as follows:

Monday and Tuesday (May 5 and 6) - ELA (reading and writing)

Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday (May 7, 8 and 9) - Math

Monday and Tuesday (May 12 and 13) - Science for 5th Grade students only

Thank you for all your support as we prepare for NJSLA! Families will receive a report on their child's performance, but those reports will not be available until Fall 2025.
